![]() ![]() The reason for me to also get/purchase Mixbus was first my curiosity about it, but in the end I’ve kept it because of its sound – *and* because the workflow is about the same as in Ardour which I knew and loved since years already, and which I’ll keep using anyway. It’s open source, but for a readily compiled version for Windows or MacOS you’ll have to spend an amount of your own choice (starting at $1). Most of that stuff can be done with Ardour which is a fantastic program of and by itself. You can also save the master loudness analysis and the mixer settings automatically with each mixdown in ‘preferences’, so you’ll get something like this with your exported file(s): Output analysis Mixer settings Harrison Mixbus Sodus Bay Mixbus is a full-featured Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) with 'True Analog Mixing': a combination of Harrisons world-renowned sound and features in an affordable, knob-per-function Pobierz folder It retails for 79. A simple click with your mouse could change that to ‘Youtube’ which would be 2dB “hotter”, or to EBU R128 broadcasting standards (-23 LUFS and -1dBTP) Like the latest versions of Ardour (6.7 at the time of writing) on which it is built, it has some quite nice features which you won’t find elsewhere, at least not built-in – take the targeted mastering approach for instance: Mixbus/Ardour with a loudness target ‘Apple Music’ which translates to -16 LUFS and to -1dB true peak. ![]() I was quite happy with v6 already, but v7 seems to be even snappier. Mixbus for Mac OSX is available to purchase for $79.99 USD.Yesterday I decided to upgrade my version 6 of Harrison Mixbus to their new version 7 – and just like my purchase of v6 I’ve got it at a discount, so until now I’ve spent 19€ for the first version and also 19€ for the upgrade – still cheap when considering the normal price of 90€ (plus 29€ for the upgrade) if you don’t get the discount. Ardour Exchange for Mixbus is not yet released. Mixbus supports the abilty to import AAF files from the regular “Open” dialog if Ardour Exchange is installed on your system. Ardour Exchange compatibility - Ardour Exchange is a third-party utility which allows you to import AAF session files into the Ardour/Mixbus session format.(See the About page for translator credits) Needless to say, a nice wide screen helps if you have a lot of channels Just like a sound board, there is an EQ and compressor per channel, but there is also room for your favorite plugins to be put in as inserts. Supported languages include English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Greek, Swedish, Polish, Czech, and Norwegian. The idea is to have one knob control a single function, and to have everything you need to make a mix on one screen. To select a different language on OSX, use the “System Preferences->International->Language” dialog. Harrison’s new TapeX worflow is optimised for the task of multitrack band recording. Save As - In addition to Save and Snapshot, there is now a ¨Save As¨ function which creates a new snapshot in the session, but differs from “snapshot” in that future Save commands to go into the newly-created snapshot. Harrison Mixbus 32C Version 7 has just been released, with some rather tasty upgrades for those recording into Mixbus.This is a nice editing convenience that helps you manage large sessions.
